Tips to start working from home

Are you new at working from home and don’t have a proper space for it?

It’s not a mystery that a lot of people aren’t crazy about the idea of working from home. Many may think that it will affect their productivity and won’t be able to focus on their tasks. In reality it’s all about commitment and responsibility, you just need to adapt to a space that is free of distractions and still be as productive as if you were in the office.

Working from home offers a lot of benefits, not just economical, but is also good for our health. People who work from home have lower stress levels, have the time to eat healthier, and spend more quality time with their family, pets, friends or themselves.

If you’re new to this “working from home” movement and have no idea where to start, here are some ideas you should consider when creating the perfect workstation according to your needs and style:

  • Keep in mind your needs

This one is easy, think about what you usually do and need while working. Does it require a lot of space for equipment and supplies in order to develop those tasks? Depending on your needs, choose the best basic home office furniture to create an ergonomically correct workstation.

  • The best spot

Pick the ideal room for your work space. Ideally, your office should be in a quiet area that allows you some privacy. If available, try to pick a room far from distractions and possible noises. If you’re on the phone regularly it is important to have a room with a door to reduce noise from the rest of the house.

  • Adequate lighting makes productive people

Having proper lightning and even some natural light in your home office will improve your productivity. It will prevent headaches and eye strain from squinting in lighting that makes it challenging to work with. A recommendation would be to place your desk next to a window to take advantage of the natural light, also looking through the windows might help you reduce stress and have a visual break.

TIP: Bright light boosts your productivity and alertness, while warm light promotes relaxation.

  • Storage to keep it organized

Storage is always the correct answer, if you have a small desk and don’t like to see it cluttered, having additional storage like a bookcase or shelves can help you keep away all the supplies you regularly use. Keep in mind to locate the storage close so you can constantly access the supplies you need.
